Pu Luong – a beautiful Nature Reserve near the small town of Mai Chau. This area is not too far from Hanoi and offers some stunning scenery coupled with the opportunity to learn about the Thai people and their way of life.
From Hanoi we travel southwest toward the Laos border and watch as the landscape changes from the flat delta of the Red River to the jagged limestone karsts and rolling hills of the Mai Chau area. During the day we will trek and take in the views and fresh mountain air and at night you have the opportunity to see traditional dance performances and local food.

Day 1: Hanoi – Mai Chau – Pu luong village (L,D)
Departure from Hanoi at 7.00 am. Upon arrival in Mai Chau, we take a short walk to visit a Thai village, then lunch will be served at a home in Poom Coom village.
After lunch there is time to relax and take a short walk around the village where you can see local work on the rice fields and gardens. We then continue driving 35km to Hang village. Here we will stay the night in a traditional stilt house and learn about the culture of our Thai hosts.
Day 2: Hang village – Kho Muong village (B, L, D)
We recommend getting up early to observe, or even take part in village activities because daily life here starts early. Take this opportunity to walk around the village before breakfast is served by our hosts. At 8am we start out trek. The first section is hard with some steep climbs and stream crossings, the next part is really glorious with beautiful views of the valley, rice terraces and the rich rainforest.
We picnic lunch on the way at Eo Ken village and arrive in Kho Muong village in the afternoon. Kho Muong is incredibly beautiful and no doubt you will want to explore the village and the surrounding area and take in the sights and sounds of rural life. We will stay in an eco-homestay, which has been set up by FFI (Flora and Fauna International) in conjunction with local villagers.
Day 3: Kho Muong – Hin village (B, L, D)
Day 3 offers the most strenuous trekking of the trip, but with fantastic rewards. Views back down the valley are simply stunning as is Pon village where we stop for a picnic lunch. After luncg we continue on to Hin village where we will spend the night with a local family.
Day 4: Hin village- Hieu village (B, L, D)
After breakfast we begin our easy trek of the day. Our walk takes us past rice terraces and remote villages. We will rest for lunch in a beautiful valley nestled between karst mountains. After our 5 hour trek we will rest and stay the night at Hieu village.
Day 5: Hieu village- Pho Doan – Hanoi (B, L)
Day 5 begins will a gentle walk through the mountains to Pho Doan where we will oserve the hustle and bustle of the market. Our driver will pick us up here and we will make our way back to Hanoi stopping for a short time in Canh Nang.
